Consignments:

Q. What is the deadline for consignments?

A. Our auctions are held once a year in the spring.  In order to have enough time to photograph and produce the catalog, our consignment deadline is December 31.

Q. What does it cost to consign an item to the auction?

A. There are no out of pocket expenses associated with consigning a piece to the auction.  There is a commission percentage that is charged once the piece has sold.  This amount is deducted from the hammer price and the balance is paid to the consignor after the auction.

Q. What is the standard commission percentage?

A. We do not have a standard commission percentage.  The percentage is based on the amount of pieces consigned, the quality of pieces, and the estimates agreed upon.

Q. What is the procedure to submit a piece for consideration?

A. Please email us at info@scottsdaleartauction.com.  Include the Preliminary Consignment Questionnaire and also attach a photo.  We do understand you will not be able to fill out the entire worksheet.  Please fill in as much information that you know.  Once we receive your worksheet and photos, your file will go before our partners for consideration.  We will then move forward to sign a consignment agreement or let you know that the partners have decided to pass on your piece.

Q. What type of art is the auction interested in?

A. See “Seeking Consignments” which gives a list of the some of the artists we are interested in.  However, this list is not all inclusive.  We specialize in important 19th – 21st century western, sporting, and wildlife art.

Q. How can I get a catalogue?

A. Catalogues are available for purchase for $35.00 plus $10.00 for international shipping.  We accept all major credit cards except discover.  All catalogues are available to order online using your paypal account.  We also accept orders over the phone or through the mail.  If ordering by mail, please include your name, address, phone number, check or cash, and/or a credit card number, expiration date, billing zip code, and the SIC code (three digit number on the back or four digit number on the front of American Express cards).

Q. If I am interested in a piece, how can I get more information such as a condition report?

A. Condition reports are available the week prior to the auction.  Please email us at info@scottsdaleartauction.com and we will add you to the distribution list so you will automatically receive it when it is available.  You can also use our contact page and submit an inquiry requesting the condition report.  Same goes for additional photos, however these are available anytime.

Q. When can I see the art in person?

A. The art is stored on location and available for viewing by appointment.  However, the art will be hanging on location two Thursdays prior to the auction.

Q. Do I need to buy tickets to the cocktail preview or the auction?

A. Your catalogue is your ticket into the preview and the auction.  One catalog is good for two people.

Q. Do I need to RSVP to the cocktail preview or the auction?

A. Your bidder registration is your RSVP to both the cocktail preview and the auction.

Q. How do I register?

A. We have three types of registration: telephone bidding, absentee bidding, and in-house bidding.  If you plan to attend the auction you can register online from the home page.  If you plan to be bidding on the telephone or by absentee there are forms available from our forms link.  You can submit online or print the form and fax it in.  There are also forms available in the back of the catalogue that you can fax in.

Q. When can I see the results of the auction?

A. The results will be available online two weeks after the auction or you can send an inquiry through our contact page requesting to be added to our distribution list.  This way the results will be automatically emailed to you as soon as they are available.
